Sprite Sheet Renderer – Blender add-on
A downloadable tool for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Sprite Sheet Renderer turns a 3D animation into the sprite sheet a 2D game needs. Select a rig or animated object, choose 4 or 8 directions and press Render Sprite Sheet.
What you get
- One sheet PNG: a row per direction, a column per frame
- JSON in TexturePacker hash layout with Aseprite-style frameTags (Phaser 3 reads it directly)
- A Godot 4 SpriteFrames .tres with one animation per direction
- Framing that does not jump: one shared orthographic scale for all frames and directions
- Pixel-art mode: low-res render with nearest-neighbour upscale, palette reduction, 1 px outline
Your scene stays as it was
Rendering happens in a temporary scene. Frame, transforms, pose bones and shape keys are restored afterwards, also when a render fails halfway.
Requirements
Blender 4.2 or newer. Install as an Extension: Edit › Preferences › Get Extensions › Install from Disk, then pick the ZIP. No extra Python packages. Tested headless on Blender 5.2.2 (Windows) with an automated suite of 99 checks.
Known limits
- Orthographic camera only
- Cells are not trimmed or packed; every cell has the same size
- Engine files follow the documented formats and are checked by tests, not inside each engine
License
GPL-3.0-or-later. You get the full source.
